Tattoo Placement Ideas
Where you place a tattoo affects everything — how it reads, how it ages and how it relates to your body. Placement should be considered alongside the size, style and subject of the piece to ensure the design works with the natural contours of the area.
The outer forearm and upper arm are among the most popular placements for their visibility and relatively flat surface. The collarbone, sternum and ribcage suit longer, flowing horizontal compositions. The thigh offers generous space for larger detailed work, while the wrist and ankle suit minimal and fine line pieces.
Your artist will always advise on placement during the consultation process. If you have an existing tattoo nearby, it's worth bringing photos to the appointment so the design can be positioned with that context in mind.
